Conners, Third Edition
This comprehensive ADHD assessment is validated for children ages 6 through 18 years of age. The assessment factors in the perspectives of the child, parents and teachers for a holistic view of cognitive, behavioral, and emotional problems, with a focus on ADHD and comordbid disorders. The latest scoring update to this assessment aligns with the DSM 5, with appropriate revisions made to symptom criteria for ADHD, Conduct Disorder (CD) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD).
Our therapists have been trained to deliver the Conners, third edition ADHD assessment and we are experienced with both the short and long form assessment tools. The information collected through interview and assessment forms is collated into a comprehensive report to help the child, parents, and teachers more fully understand the issues the child is facing personally, academically and socially.
All of our therapists are trained to deliver the Conners, third addition ADHD assessment and completing the assessment is an important first step in getting your child the help and support he or she needs. Please note during the assessment sessions there will not be an animal present because the assessment needs to be delivered under the sames conditions as it was validated.
The assessment process involves 3 sessions :
Session 1: initial joint intake interview involving the child and parents with the counselor. At the end of this session, parents will be given an assessment to give to one to two teachers to complete and return by the next session.
Session 2: child completes assessment and has an individual interview with the counselor. Parents complete an assessment form in parallel and provide the counselor with the teachers’ assessment forms.
Session 3: joint assessment results debrief session. Child and parent are provided with a comprehensive assessment report at the end of this session
The private pay cost for three sessions with one of our therapists and the creation of the comprehensive report is $420, which can be broken down into three equal payments or paid in full all at once.
Some insurance companies cover the cost of specific psychological assessments. Please contact our practice manager at 919-243-1505 to find out if your insurance plan will pay for the Conners, third edition assessment.
Treatment Follow Up
After the assessment several factors come into play when it comes to finding the right treatment options for your child:
The outcome of the assessment
Financial resources, including type of insurance
Expertise and scope of practice of the counselor
Depending on the outcome of the assessment and your insurance coverage, the therapist that conducted the assessment may or may not be the best fit for ongoing treatment. The therapist who conducted the assessment will work with you to find a counselor who is the best fit for on-going treatment, either referring you to another therapist in our practice or to another practice with which with we have developed a close referral relationship.
